My Smart Meter was reprogrammed today

Monday, June 6th, 2011 My PV Solar Stuff No Comments

When I got home from work tonight, I started the dishwasher up as it was full and I was running out of crockery and cutlery. Then as part of my ritual, I went outside to read and record my electricity meter readings for usage and solar fed in for the past 24 hours so I could add the data to my spreadsheet.

I was confronted with a usage reading of 0000.4 kWh and a feed in of 0000.0 kWh. They showed 2251.9 kWh and 116.1 kWh yesterday.

Seems my previously installed smart meter was reprogrammed today for my solar power installation and feed-in tarriff (I signed up for a dual rate and PFIT (Premium Feed In Tarriff) with TRU Energy. I wasn’t expecting the readings to be reset when it was done.

So the first thing I did was rush back inside and stop the dishwasher and learnt how to use the delayed start timer on it so it will wash my dishes during the cheaper off peak time. It should start up around 12:00am (Off peak is 11pm – 7am Monday to Friday and all weekend).

The 2nd thing I did was alter the formulae in my spreadsheet so the past month and a bit of data didn’t become redundant and the new readings will simply add to my stats.
I can’t help it Slap Steve
